KIDS TENNIS A.K.A. PROGRESSIVE TENNIS
The Imamovic-Ayer Tennis Academy offers tennis lessons to kids ages 5-12 by following the progressive tennis guidelines provided by Tennis Canada. Progressive Tennis is defined as the program where coaches use a systematic progression of scaled racquets, modified balls, and court sizes to offer competitive opportunities that are taught using a game-based approach (e.g. psychological, physical, tactical, and technical) to produce more and better competitors. Further, with the progressive tennis focus, the coach focuses primarily on getting participants to play, helping them play the game quicker, better, and more successfully. In addition, progressive tennis is used as a developmental tool to allow young children improve their overall tennis skills faster so they can transition to the regular court with more ease (Phillips, 2006).
The Imamovic-Ayer Tennis Academy usually organizes progressive tennis participants into three groups including: 1. Tykes (5-8 yrs); 2. PeeWee (9-12 yrs); and 3. Bantam (13+) where Tykes use 1/2 court, PeeWees 3/4 court, and Bantams progress to full court. Other group variations are possible.
Academy report cards are available to those interested (optional).
